Melissa Barnett, PMHNP, FNP

I’m a dual-certified family and psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner with over 24 years of experience in nursing—18 of those as an advanced nurse practitioner. My passion lies in providing integrative, holistic mental health care that honors each patient’s unique story, values, and needs. I believe healing goes beyond medications and includes creating a supportive environment where you feel seen, heard, and empowered to take an active role in your journey toward well-being.

My approach to care is shaped by my extensive clinical experiences and my personal values. I’ve worked with patients across the lifespan in a wide variety of settings, including inpatient and outpatient psychiatry, family medicine, urgent care, and integrative medicine. These experiences have shown me the incredible interplay between the mind and body, and they have reinforced my belief that true healing requires addressing all aspects of a person—physical, emotional, and spiritual.

My inspiration to enter the field of mental health stems from a deeply held belief in the power of compassion and connection. From a young age, I was drawn to the idea of being present for others during their most vulnerable moments. Whether it was caring for family members or hearing stories of healing in my Catholic upbringing, I felt a calling to be a source of comfort and strength for those in need.

Outside of my practice, I’m happily married with a blended family of four children. I enjoy hiking, reading, traveling, weight training, and attending the theater—both in the audience and occasionally on stage! I love connecting with others in meaningful ways and believe that every interaction has the potential to make a positive impact.
